Craig Shirley to Newsmax: Historic Parallels in Trump, Reagan Inaugurations

There are several historical parallels between the inauguration of President-elect Donald Trump and that of late President Ronald Reagan, Craig Shirley, a presidential historian and author of “The Greatest Speeches of Donald J. Trump” said on Newsmax Sunday. 

Not only has Trump’s inauguration been moved inside to the Capitol Rotunda, like Reagan’s was in 1985, but the swearings-in marked the replacements of weak presidents with strong ones, said Shirley on Newsmax’s “Wake Up America Weekend.”

“Jimmy Carter was a good man, but a weak president,” Shirley said. “The country was in crisis and the country needed strong, decisive leadership and that’s why they turned to Ronald Reagan.”
